Guru Smt. Kavita Murari
A Bharatanatyam performing artiste, dance teacher, & the Artistic Director of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya Calgary, Kavita started learning this divine classical art from the tender age of 5. She has quite a few performances to her credit staged in various parts of India and abroad. She has performed in different dance productions of Bharatanatyam. She was an assistant teacher at SNKF, Mumbai and also an official faculty for Bharatnatyam dance at Sanskriti, IIT Mumbai.
She continues to learn this fine art under the able guidance of Guru Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan. Currently, she serves as a torch-bearer of this premier institution, here in Calgary, Canada.

Guru Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan founded Soundarya Natya Kalalaya, Mumbai in 1980 - an institution dedicated to teaching the art form of Bharatanatyam, a classical form of dance from South India, in it's purest form. This 'Not-for-Profit' organization has conducted over 3500 stage performances all over India, United States of America, Singapore, Malaysia, Kingdom of Bahrain, Republic of China, Sultanate of Oman & Canada. The Artistes have won several Titles, Awards and Scholarships in dance from various well-known institutions. Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan has groomed over 25 teachers, who spread this Fine Art.
Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan, learnt Bharatanatyam under Guru Smt. Raajalakshmi Venkateshwar, a disciple of the late Shri K.N. Dandayudapani Pillai, a legend in Bharata Natyam. Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan continues to learn the advances of this Fine Art from Pt. V.J. Pillai of Shree Thanjavur Nritya Shala. She is a Post-graduation holder in Carnatic Music awarded by the Mumbai University. Her proficiency and expertise in Nattuvangam are the added assets for the performance of the Artistes of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya. Besides enjoying the twin titles of a seasoned artiste & a dedicated teacher, she is also a blessed singer, gifted with a mellifluous voice rich with resonance, melody & steady accentuation well suited for the dance. Several titles have been conferred on Smt Padmini Radhakrishnan for her contribution in spreading BharataNatyam.
Under the guidance of Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan, Soundarya Natya Kalalaya has presented around 120 Arangetram. Today, the institution operates from 9 locations in India and abroad. Over 2,000 students have been trained by Smt Padmini Radhakrishnan, and Arangetram of over 100 Artistes has been performed. Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan has groomed over 25 teachers, who spread this Fine Art. SNKF celebrates its Ruby Anniversary, the dance school has completed 40 glorious years of its existence this year (2020).
